Your Authentic Guide with Passion
In my life, I have fallen in love several times. The last time was love at first sight. We met for the first time on April Fools' Day 2023. It lasted only a few hours, and I already knew it would be forever. It fascinated me, captivated me and never let me go. It slips into my dreams and is so enchanting that even my family and friends have fallen in love with it too. I cannot stop thinking about it and planning our next and next meetings… My beloved island! My beloved Sardinia...

How to easily and quickly catch Sardinian fever
I live in a picturesque Alpine village at 1,400 meters above sea level, surrounded by pristine nature. But when it snows outside your window for several months a year, you start searching for sun, warmth and southern scents as balance for body and soul. And when you also inherit the soul a free-spirited traveler, explore 27 islands and are spoiled by the purity and untouched nature, it is hard to find a greater paradise in Europe so close to your heart than Sardinia.
A coastline without hotels, concrete promenades or litter outside the high season. I have become infected with Sardinian fever so deeply that we bought one hectare of agricultural land in the south of the island, where we collect wild lavender and myrtle berries and gradually create a Mediterranean fruit orchard. Thanks to this project, I travel to the island several times a year. I have built contacts for accommodation and car rentals; I know all hidden beaches, where to find the best flight deals or ferry tickets.
I'm here for you with my experience and connections. Don't hesitate to reach out — but be warned that your first trip to the southeast of the island probably won't be your last.

How to reach the island

LET´S FLY
If you prefer flying, check out flights to Cagliari, Olbia or Alghero. Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia, has around 150,000 inhabitants. We simply love the historic part of the town as well as the new waterfront promenade by the harbour. Olbia and Alghero are in the north of the island, approximately 3 hours drive to Cagliari.
The cheapest tickets are usually within Italy, where you can often find flights for under €20. Good destination to change is Bergamo. There are more flights per day all over the year.
FLIGHTS ARE CHEAPEST ABOUT 8–6 WEEKS BEFORE DEPARTURE. For the summer season they will probably not get cheaper if you wait, for the low-season it´s definitely worth having look more often, as the difference could be huge. It's not worth buying them six months in advance. You will definitely find the right connection also with a low-cost airline company such as Ryanair, Volotea, Vueling or Easy Jet.

RENT A CAR
We always book our rental car in advance. Prices range from about €5 per day in the low season up to roughly €50 a day in July and August. It definitely pays off to search around on comparison sites. One of our favorite and proven platforms is Mietwagen-Check.at, which is known in English as Driveboo.
When renting a car, keep in mind that you will need a CREDIT CARD, as a deposit will be blocked on it. With a debit card (such as an Electronic card), you might have real problems or will be chardeg separately extra insurance. Before driving off with the rental, take several photos and videos of the vehicle. If you find a scratch that is not listed in their records, simply email them a photo immediately—you'll save yourself a lot of hassle and arguments when returning the car. Unfortunately, we've already had plenty of unpleasant disputes with rental companies, but we can recommend Sicily by Car and Viaggiare - the only companies where we have never had any problems with. You find them via Driveboo as well.

OVER THE SEA
If you want to bring your own car, dog, cat, tent etc.—or maybe take home plenty of bottles of strong, excellent Sardinian wine or a box full of lemons or orange —take the ferry.
If possible, avoid weekends, when ferry prices are at
their highest. Ideally, book an overnight ferry with a cabin. While the
cabin costs extra, you'll save time and accommodation on the mainland or
on the island.
At eight in the evening, you can still enjoy a glass of wine in Livorno,
then sleep like a baby on the water all night (unless there are huge
waves), and by seven in the morning you'll be on the island.
If you're heading all the way towards the south of Sardinia, expect
another 3–4 hours by car. The drive across Sardinia, however, is
incredibly beautiful—through mountains, national parks, and along fast
roads with no tolls. If you are lucky, you may even sight the wild
horses.

- To Sardinia, Moby Lines sails from Livorno, Genoa or Civitavecchia near Rome. The shortest crossing from Livorno takes about 9 hours. In August, you can also depart from Piombino and reach the island in around 5 hours. MOBY constantly offers coupons for future trips, so it's worth buying your outbound ticket first and then booking the return later using the coupon.
- Another option is Corsica Ferries, which usually runs 50% discounts about three times a year—that's when we tend to buy our tickets. We usually travel with Corsica Ferries as you can get an overnight ticket for two persons, car inclusive cabins starting from 120 EUR if you buy when they offer discounts.
- The last company is Grimaldi Lines.
The best, new cabins are on Moby Fantasy on the route from Livorno, but if you don't have high expectations, you can survive just about anything. A real paradise is awaiting you accross the sea anyway.
We always check the prices also with DIRECT FERRIES, but the prices are pretty often cheaper directly via the above mentioned companies.
